The Physician Behind CodeMD
Israel Wootton, MD, is a board-certified emergency physician whose approach to CodeMD is grounded in a simple belief: people deserve wellness products they can understand, trust, and feel confident using in real life. He earned his medical degree from the Florida State University College of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at LSU/OLOL, training in a Level I trauma environment that shaped his evidence-first, practical approach to care. He continues to practice acute-care medicine, where he sees firsthand how much everyday health is influenced by the choices people make long before they ever reach an emergency department. His ongoing involvement in medical education and admissions with Florida State University College of Medicine also reflects what matters most to him: helping shape a culture of thoughtful, rigorous, human-centered medicine.
Inspired by the questions he was already asking
Like many physicians, Israel was often asked what he personally takes, what he recommends, and how he evaluates the crowded supplement category. The answers were rarely simple.
Labels could be difficult to interpret. Popular ingredients were not always used in research-relevant amounts. Marketing claims often moved faster than the science.
CodeMD grew out of a desire to build products differently, beginning with evidence and then working through dose, formulation, quality, and whether the finished product was something he would actually use himself and feel comfortable sharing with the people closest to him.

As Founder and President, Dr. Wootton helps lead the vision and mission of CodeMD while keeping the company anchored to the values behind it. He actively directs our Leadership Team, confers with partnering physicians, defines the purpose of new formulas, reviews scientific literature on ingredients and dosing, and works with manufacturing and technical partners on formulation decisions. He also reviews product and educational claims for scientific appropriateness and helps evaluate new evidence as research evolves. His role is hands-on by design: making sure CodeMD grows without losing the rigor, clarity, and responsibility it was built around.
